LATIN ACTIVITIES
DD's latest project, dedicated to Latin freestyle

Being Gen X, I was fortunate enough to grow up in the 1980s and '90s, when Latin freestyle was regularly played on the radio in California and Florida. The keyboard sounds (usually in minor keys) really resonated with me, and I'd play along with my Casio.
In 1997 I wrote the lyrics and music for "Your Love (Means Everything to Me)" as a loving parody of the genre, but years later realized it's actually a good composition of Latin freestyle. I've been working with 2 different producers, Bidi Cobra and Vaughn Avakian, on 2 different mixes of this tune.
Recently, I've been revisiting and relishing this side of myself, being into totally '80s beats and sounds, and decided to delve even deeper into the genre as a producer. I've been working on an entire batch of Latin freestyle songs, and even a cumbia, which I'll be gathering together for an album I'm calling "Latin Activities".
To date, I've already put out two videos related to this project, "Latin Boomer" featuring Meg McIntire on bass + vocals, and a cumbia called "What Would Keith Do?" featuring Peter Feliciano on percussion, bass, and accordion.
